Local gymnasts shine at recent competition

The Compulsory gymnasts from Poway Gymnastics participated in the NAWGJ-SC Judges Cup competition in Costa Mesa in early September and did very well.

A highlight was Naomi Tran who competed at level 3, tied for seventh on vault with a 9.0, first on bars with a 9.4, second on beam with a 9.175, sixth on floor with a 9.025 and won her age division overall with a 36.6. This was her first competition ever.

Julianna King competed at level 3, tied for third with a 9.15, placed third with a 9.425, placed fifth with a 9.025 and placed fifth in her age division with a 35.875.

Kate Valencia competed at level 3, placed first on vault with a 9.2, and fifth on bars with a 9.150, and was seventh in her age division with a 35.5.

Isabelle Rader competed at level 3, tied for fifth with an 8.75, placed third on beam with a 9.225, fourth on floor with an 8.95 and third overall in her age division with a 35.2.

Alexis Ostrow competed at level 4, tied for fifth with an 8.9 on bars, placed sixth on beam with a 9.325 and was sixth overall in her age division with a 34.675.

Other notable accomplishments: Tessa Galkowski (level 4) tied for fifth place on beam with a 9.0, and Emily Lewis (level 4) placed ninth with a 9.15.
